Riptide partnered with Hungry Hearts Foundation on Saturday, November 9, 2019. Hungry Hearts mission is to help feed hungry school-aged children who are currently on the National School Lunch Program by providing them with supplemental food for the weekends and school holidays.
Riptide athletes braved cold, rainy conditions at our local Wal-Mart store. Athletes approached store patrons to discuss their day's mission which was focused on raising soup cans. However, athletes raised much more than just soup cans! After eight hours, Riptide raised hundreds of cans and other non-perishable foods, as well as, $700.00! Riptide athletes worked hard and near the end got a special early visit from Santa himself who began listening to early Christmas wishes! Riptide is grateful for the wonderful staff at our local Wal-Mart who made us hundreds more flyers to pass out after we ran out of our first 500! Riptide is also very grateful for our parents who volunteered to stay with the athletes throughout the day! Check out the pictures below from our food drive! A few Riptide athletes delivered their collection of food and supplies to The NOAH Center today! The athletes helped unload all of the donations collected last weekend. NOAH staff took the athletes on a special tour of the facility. Athletes had opportunities to hold kittens and puppies, as well as, visit the Cat Play Room and Dog Pad. Riptide looks forward to the next opportunity to partner with The NOAH Center! Check out the pictures captured today!
In the spirit of giving and gratitude, Tabitha Moser, Riptide Team Operation Lead, took a team of Riptide athletes to help deliver much needed fire wood to those in our community. Riptide partnered with Shane McDaniel. McDaniel and his two twin boys have been chopping wood for those who cannot afford firewood to heat their homes.
Once Shane McDaniel advertised free firewood on Facebook, he was inundated with request for the free wood! Firewood can be expensive especially when you are deciding between food, needed medications, and running water. With forecasters predicting an exceptionally cold winter, Shane requested help from the community to deliver the wood to those in most need. This last Saturday, a few of our Riptide athletes loaded their trucks and delivered wood to a man who had a trampoline accident 26 years ago which left him paralyzed. Check out the pictures below! |
