Part of the Lake Stevens Riptide Select Baseball Program's mission statement is Community. With this at our foundation, our athletes participated in a food drive for our local food bank. They worked with Lake Stevens Fire Department in a "Fill the Truck" event. Our athletes handed out flyers with barcodes where grocery store patrons could purchase $10.00 grocery bag which were then given to our local food banks. Our athletes took the drive to another level and collected cash donations which they then took to purchase the $10.00 grocery bags! They also collected 2 carts of non-perishable food items! The food drive goal was 200 bags for the day. However, our athletes collected 350 bags during their 8 hour shift! Our athletes showed leadership, character, pride in their community, and a willingness to stay focused and dedicated to their mission which was to collect food for those who need it most in our community. We are super proud of our Riptide athletes and super impressed with their courage to brave the cold temperatures to be community beacons of positivity and love! Thank you to Lake Stevens Fire Department for being our partners for the day! We are always indebted and grateful for their service they provide to our community! Please enjoy the pictures from our volunteer event! A special thank you to all of our parents who braved the cold with us and bought little snacks for the kids! Thank you to Julie Linehan for buying plastic donation cups after our athletes decided they wanted to take on monetary donations! Julie also brought a huge bowl of candy which our athletes shared with children who were patroning the grocery store that day! Our first group of athletes (pictured below): Kayden Blanchard, Chase Geary, Maverick Elich, Nicholas Christianson, Nolan Linehan, Charles Peper, and Grant McAllister. These athletes took the first early shift! They kicked off our event with a bang and set the bar high for the following groups! Our second group of athletes (pictured below): Cale Fatland, Layne Perin, Brandon Marshall, Spencer Sanders-Pugh, and Cayden DeElena . This group kept the successful momentum going! Many of these athletes came straight to the volunteer event from their football game-DEDICATION! Our third group of athletes (pictured below): Evan Ryan, Tayden Sundin, and Brooks Pugmire . This group was only made of 3 of our athletes but they held their own bringing in just as many donations as the other groups! No slackers here! Our fourth group of athletes (pictured below): Faith Jackson, Dayn Osborn, Keaton Campbell, Channing Kohn, Jacob Heston, and Axton Padilla . This was our final group that braved the dark and cold later in the evening! They ended the food drive strong with no disappointments in donations!
Our 9U and 10U teams had their first Cross Fit conditioning workout with CrossFit Lake Stevens this morning! All of the athletes worked hard. Coach KC put together a great first introductory workout for our kids who are all new to the CrossFit Lake Stevens gym! Over the course of winter training our athletes will be working on endurance and strength to prepare for the upcoming tournament season! Below are pictures from the first workout!
