Read more information below to ensure LS Riptide
is the right fit for your athlete and family:
- Lake Stevens Riptide recruits student athletes who have desire to play at higher levels including high school, college, and beyond. Our program is focused on training athletes who aim to compete at high levels to become elite in all aspects of the game including mentally and physically and on and off the baseball field. Riptide's programming is focused on fundamentals and development.
- Athletes and families understand that growth and development is a process continually being honed. We do not expect perfection rather the pursuit of perfection with the understanding it is a constant chase.
- Athletes understand and demonstrate their individual accountability to the game and team. Athletes will receive instruction and feedback at all trainings; however, it is the athlete's responsibility and expected accountability to work at home on skills.
- Athletes must attend the majority of winter training, practices, and tournaments. Tournament play will include at least 5 different tournaments. Tournaments are played mostly on the weekends and very rarely during the week (school breaks). We do attempt to follow school holiday schedules as close as possible; however, it is likely tournaments fall over 3 day holiday weekends.
- The time commitment for club level baseball differs from recreation baseball. Athletes are expected to engage with Riptide training, practices, scrimmages, tournaments. They are expected to continue learning how to increase their time management skills so both academics and athletics are taken care of to the best of their ability.
- We expect our athletes to be multi-sport athletes. We work very hard to create a winter training schedule that minimally interferes with other sports. However, this is not a guarantee that there will not be overlap. Often, other sports take priority depending on the timing of the season. It is expected that missed trainings will be communicated to coaches or Team Operation Leads. Our athletes are highly encouraged to shut down throwing a baseball for at least 3 months.
- Riptide does not expect each team to win every game or tournament. Each player and team will have successes and failures throughout. Rather we view the season as an opportunity for growth and development of each athletes' individual skill set and by season's end, the participating athlete will demonstrate growth in the physical and mental game.
- We expect Riptide parents to support their athletes through successes and failures and leave the coaching to coaches while maintaining their role as a supportive parent.
- All playing time is earned. Every spot and batting position is never guaranteed and always earned. We discourage the culture of questioning play time by parents and employ a culture of trust with the program and its coaches which are constantly working with players to develop their skills and prepare them to be successful in live games whether those are scrimmages, league games, and/or tournaments. Coaches will decide who is the best fit for each position in the field each game, as well as, the batting line up.
- Athletes are required to have 5 hours of volunteer service before the tournament season commences. This can be earned with Riptide community events or other community events the athlete participates.
- We do NOT offer talent scholarships. LS Riptide does have hardship applications we offer to our families. We do not guarantee any hardship application is accepted and is dependent on the fiscal year's activity.
- There are no refunds given.
What do fees cover?
